BANDUNG, itb.ac.id – The Directorate of Partnerships at Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) hosted an iftar (breaking-the-fast) gathering with international students currently pursuing their studies at ITB. The event, held on Thursday (March 13, 2025) at the ITB International Relations Office (IRO) Building, was attended by dozens of students from various countries, along with ITB leaders, lecturers, and members of the academic community.

The Rector of ITB, Prof. Dr. Ir. Tatacipta Dirgantara, M.T., was represented by the Vice Rector for Communication, Partnerships, Alumni, and Administration, Dr. Andryanto Rikrik Kusmara, S.Sn., M.Sn., who expressed appreciation for the event.

"On behalf of the Rector, we wish you a blessed Ramadan. We hope you have an extraordinary academic journey here," he said.

He also stated that ITB remains committed to improving the comfort and well-being of international students during their time studying at the campus.

Head of ITB's Directorate of Partnerships, Dr. Ir. Endra Gunawan, S.T., M.Sc., explained that the iftar gathering was part of ITB’s ongoing efforts to strengthen ties and foster a sense of community between international students and the campus, especially with the Directorate of Partnerships. In addition, the event served to introduce the tradition of Ramadan in Indonesia to international students and to provide them with a meaningful and memorable Ramadan experience.

"Iftar gatherings are part of Indonesia’s cultural traditions during the month of Ramadan. At the end of the month, we will return to our hometowns, so I think this is the perfect moment to introduce our culture. We also hope they can become our ambassadors in their home countries, so more students will be interested in coming here for exchange," he added.

The event also included a prayer led by a representative of the international students, as an expression of gratitude and hope for blessings during the month of Ramadan.

Guests enjoyed a variety of traditional Indonesian dishes such as nasi tumpeng, meatballs (bakso), fried snacks, and a range of takjil (light appetizers served at iftar). They also had the opportunity to interact, take photos, and share stories with one another.

This event is expected to serve as a platform for creating a welcoming and inclusive academic environment, especially for international students.
