ITB Holds Second Graduation Ceremony for the 2024/2025 Academic Year, Uniting the Happiness of Graduates and Families

BANDUNG, itb.ac.id – Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) held the Second Open Graduation Ceremony of the 2024/2025 Academic Year for Bachelor's, Master's, and Doctoral Programs at the Sasana Budaya Ganesa (Sabuga) Building, Friday–Saturday (April 25–26/4/2025).
ITB graduated 1,877 students, consisting of 515 from the Bachelor's Program, 1,239 from the Master's Program, and 123 from the Doctoral Program.
The opening of the ceremony initiated with reading the ITB Chancellor's Decree which Vice Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs Prof. Dr. Irwan Meilano, ST, M.Sc. read aloud. This April Graduation ceremony saw over fifty percent of Bachelor Master and Doctoral students earning either the cum laude or magna cum laude or summa cum laude predicates.
In Bachelor's program, awarded 13 students summa cum laude honors with the highest distinction followed by 16 recipients with magna cum laude honors, alongside 53 other students who received the highest honors cum laude.
Meanwhile, for the Masters Program, 123 people received summa cum laude , 78 received magna cum laude , and 200 others received cum laude .
On the other hand, for the Doctoral Program, 20 of them graduated with summa cum laude , 13 earned magna cum laude , and 35 completed their doctoral studies with cum laude predicate.
What made this graduation special was the direct presence of the parents of the graduates at the Sabuga Auditorium to witness their children's historic moment firsthand. The presence of parents serves as a tribute to the vital role of families in the educational journey, as well as ITB’s appreciation for family values and the emotional support that accompanies students throughout their academic path.
In his speech, ITB Rector, Prof. Dr. Ir. Tatacipta Dirgantara, MT, invited the graduates to not only be grateful for today's achievements, but also to prepare to face real-world challenges.
“The future is not something that just comes; it is created. Creativity and imagination are the main forces in shaping it,” he said.
He reminded that success does not only belong to those who are intelligent, but also to those who have character and integrity. In the midst of rapid global change, collaboration, adaptation, and strong character are the keys to remaining relevant and making a real impact.
Meanwhile, the Vice Chancellor for Communication, Partnership, Alumni, and Administration of ITB, Dr. A. Rikrik Kusmara, S.Sn., M.Sn., emphasized that graduation is not the end, but the beginning of a long journey full of meaning.
“We hope that the graduates will always uphold ITB’s values and become individuals who can make meaningful contributions to society, the nation, and the world,” he said.
