BANDUNG, itb.ac.id — The Ministry of Student Welfare Coordination (Kemenkoan Kesma) of the KM ITB Cabinet once again served as a platform to support student creativity and relaxation within an academic environment. In collaboration with craft.tive.pieces, Kemenkoan Kesma held a macrame workshop titled “Knot and Chill”, aimed to allow participants to learn the art of knotting while providing a relaxing escape from campus routines.
Alima Hasna Sajida, one of the organizers from craft.tive.pieces and a student of the Craft study program, class of 2022, served as the instructor for the event. Hasna shared, “As an ITB student, I feel that activities like this are incredibly beneficial for students to take a break and refresh from the often hectic academic life. In addition, this kind of activity also offers a great opportunity to broaden our horizons in the creative world.”
One of the participants, Shulhan Al Khalidy (Meteorology, class of 2021), shared that the event helped refresh his mind. “I’ve been focusing on my thesis lately and really needed some time to clear my head. This workshop gave me the chance to take a break and learn something new,” he said when interviewed at the end of the event at the CAS ITB hallway on Saturday, March 15, 2025.
The workshop, attended by around 20 participants, taught them how to make bottle holders using yarn as the main material, a craft that not only holds aesthetic value but also presents potential as a creative business opportunity. Participants appeared enthusiastic as they tried various macrame techniques and created their own handmade pieces.
Through this event, Kemenkoan Kesma KM ITB hopes to continue encouraging students to develop their interests and talents in creativity while giving them time to unwind from their daily routines.
