BANDUNG, itb.ac.id – The School of Electrical Engineering and Informatics at Institut Teknologi Bandung (STEI ITB) hosted the National Conference on Information Systems (KNSI) 2025 on February 14–15, 2025, at ITB's Ganesha Campus. This annual event serves as a platform for academics, researchers, and practitioners to share insights and research findings in the field of information systems. Under the theme "Information Systems in the Era of Artificial Intelligence," KNSI 2025 emphasized the urgency of leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) technologies in managing and developing information systems to address global challenges.
In her opening remarks, KNSI 2025 Chairperson Lenny Putri Yulianti, S.T., M.T., highlighted that the conference is a pivotal moment to discuss the evolution of information systems amidst rapid AI advancements. This year, KNSI received 42 scientific papers authored by 144 contributors from 15 different institutions across Indonesia.?
"Through KNSI, we hope this conference becomes a crucial forum for the academic and industrial communities to share knowledge, experiences, and innovations in information systems," she stated.?
KNSI 2025 featured various sessions of panel discussions, workshops, and research presentations covering current topics in information systems, including big data, cybersecurity, data science, artificial intelligence, and technology for sustainability. Notably, the main agenda of this conference included presentations from experts such as Dr.Eng. Ayu Purwarianti, M.T., who discussed topics about large language models (LLMs) and their applications in various generative tasks.?
In her keynote session, Dr. Ayu explained that LLMs are a component of AI widely utilized in both industry and academia nowadays. These models can comprehend and generate text based on billions of data points collected from diverse sources.?
"Currently, industries extensively use LLMs because with a single model, we can handle various tasks," she noted.?
Head of the Informatics Research Group at STEI ITB, Prof. Ir. Kridanto Surendro, M.Sc., Ph.D., emphasized that collaboration between information systems and artificial intelligence is crucial in facing future technological challenges. He expressed hope that the research and discussions conducted at the conference would lead to new methods of integrating AI into information systems, benefiting both academic and industrial applications.?
As a conference established in 2005, KNSI 2025 marks two decades of providing a primary discussion forum for information systems enthusiasts. After a hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, KNSI has returned to enrich discussions and research contributing to the development of information systems in Indonesia.?
The conference concluded with parallel sessions showcasing the latest research findings in information systems, presented through discussions and presentations.
